Sam's Sprint 5K Run/Walk

Our precious son, Sam, passed away on October 31, 2oo7, with a diagnosis of SIDS at 5 months old. He is loved and missed by many every day, especially his mommy, daddy, brother, sister, and twin sister. In honor of Sam, we have created the Samuel Dustin Clark Foundation. Each year a donation will be made in Sam's honor to a community project or other charitable cause.

Last year we hosted the first annual "Sam's Sprint," a 5K run/walk which began and ended at Charlie Daniel's Park in Mount Juliet. The race took place on October 17, 2010. Proceeds from the race went towards the building of a toddler playground at Charlie Daniel's Park. In August of 2011 the playground, "Squirrel's Run," was built, and now it's amazing watching kids in the community enjoy it because of the love for Sam.

The SECOND ANNUAL SAM'S SPRINT will take place at Charlie Daniel's Park on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2011, and will be a morning event this year! We expect an even bigger turnout, and have lots of exciting things already in the works for event day!! We are very excited to announce that our main 2011 beneficiary will be the Mount Juliet Library! After this year's event, we will donate proceeds to the library for their expansion plan, which includes a new storytime area and an outdoor reading/playground area. This is a long-term project, but we are SO excited to partner with the library in the early planning phase of their new addition! A portion of this years' proceeds may also go towards maintenance of "Squirrel's Run." We are so grateful for all participation in the 2nd Annual Sam's Sprint to raise money in memory of our precious baby boy, Sam!

The 2nd Annual Sam's Sprint was a HUGE success! It was an absolute gorgeous day, just perfect for celebrating the life of our special little guy! We want to thank EVERYONE who helped make the day so great! Our volunteers, race participants, and sponsors blew us away again this year, and we can't wait to make a donation to the Mount Juliet Library in honor of Sam's Sprint and the Samuel Dustin Clark Foundation!

We had over 300 total registrants for this year's event! 249 people ran or walked in our 5K, and our kids' races nearly doubled in size this year! Our mascot, THE SQUIRREL, had all the preschoolers excited to reach the finish line for a BIG HUG! Though final numbers are still being crunched, we know we raised over $10,000 for Sam's Foundation this year. We are very excited to donate a portion for maintenance of Squirrel's Run, the playground built with proceeds from the 1st Annual Sam's Sprint, and make our primary donation to the Mount Juliet Library for their future expansion plans!

An exciting fundraising event is also coming up November 5th at Angel's Stop N' Play in Providence. From 8:30 A.M. to midnight, 20% of all fees will be donated to Sam's Foundation for each child staying a minimum of 3 hours! We are so grateful to Angels Stop N' Play for their on-site childcare on event day, and their continued efforts to support our cause!
